My five children and I moved here December 18th 1999 as we needed a new beginning. Our lives found new breath as we began developing our talents and lives here on 175. Roger and his three children followed in the summer of 2000, as our college friendship pulled us through dark family circumstances. Roger moved into the school building and his children moved in with us! We were engaged later that year and married at the very end of 2000. Life has been absolutely wonderful, and we have grown to appreciate every detail in our relationship to each other, and with others. Two more children blessed our home, and we are living…...happily ever after! (Happily does not mean without trials…I once had someone tell me that I would be blessed with trails. Now we look at trials as blessings we can grow from!) Bring a dish to pass (yes, healthy) and enjoy the company of many people from around the area. These are GREAT people, and we are so excited for you to meet each other! We have had many RSVP (not that you need too) so it is stacking up to be a very enjoyable day!

I still remember that large sticker of Uncle Sam pointing right at me that hung on my parents bar refrigerator. He was so scary! But, the tone it set for us to remember the military was great! Now, we don’t need military action, I just liked the phrase……BUT we do need YOU! December was our worst month last year, and we can not let that happen again! Oils for Gifts!
Next Tuesday is our oil class where YOU can make gifts for Christmas! Pat has been busy ordering supplies, so we are al in for a great treat! Come prepared to make body sprays…..

HERB MANIA!
Last nights class was AWESOME! We all have decided we could listen to Chris speak for eternity… ( almost) so guess what! We are organizing a five week class where we will learn in-depth the healing power of herbs! More information will be coming. This class will run every week for five weeks starting in February. We will keep you posted on cost and what is all covered. We are VERY lucky to have his knowledge as part of our team. Chris and Joy are amazing individuals, and we are thankful for their support and friendship. The classes are being proposed for Saturdays starting in February from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Comments or suggestions on times are still welcome.

PLOWING
As the winter season will eventually start…..we need a plow! We have used the same individual for years, but would enjoy giving the money to someone who shops at our store. If anyone is interested in plowing for us, please contact us ASAP!

MEAT!
We have seen a reduction in the sales of meat, poultry and dairy....probably because we do not rank it high on the need list. However, if you are going to enjoy meat, poultry and dairy, you want to eat free range, grass fed, organic if possible products! We still have a wonderful selection of local meats and poultry, and they reflect lower prices through December. The farmers we buy from are very good people, and their meats are the best! During the next two weeks we will be putting many items on clearance, as we do a final sale at the end of the year to lower the inventory! Keep your eyes open!

Nativities!
This Friday and Saturday from 6 pm until 9 pm you can view over 400 nativities! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has an entire building full of nativities from around the world. They are arranged in different theme rooms, and are just amazing. This is the fifth year we have offered this to the community, and it is GREAT! Truly this is a wonderful way to bring Christ into Christmas during the rush of December. Please stop in and enjoy beautiful music from area vocalists and artists, refreshments, and over 400 nativities. On Saturday Eric (our 18 year old son) (wait, we have two 18 year old sons...) (ok, he is the oldest 18 year old son) is the angel in the live nativity, so smile or wave! Sunday the nativity is open from 1pm until 4 pm. We now have LOCAL free range eggs! These eggs are from Aparian Farms and enjoy the free life! Free from antibiotics, hormones, and stress! There is a rooster on premise (someone needs to keep them in line) and enjoy life with their steer buddies. All their beef is free range and grass fed only, but they do not have enough for us to sell yet! So we will enjoy their eggs! They are only two miles away, so we mean LOCAL eggs!

Raw Milwaukee Meetup Group!

For all those of you interested in living the raw lifestyle (75% or higher of diet is living foods) please consider joining the Meetup group in Milwaukee! Somehow I became the organizer of the group last month, and we are planning raw potlucks each month. It is a great way to meet others and get recipes and ideas for living raw! I personally love this lifestyle and have more energy than I ever thought possible. PLUS I do not get sick! (Ok, once I had a cough, but only one in many years!) Thanksgiving help!

This year brings us all joy, but for one family in particular, if brings great joy. The Fleisner family has been through months of rollercoaster rides as their 17 year old daughter Kassy, has been fighting cancer. Last Thursday was quite a trial, as she almost spent the evening in the arms of her creator. (Not that that would have been a terrible thing…) BUT she made it through once again, and has made it through another surgery. Brenda (mom) is hoping they will all come home this week. I have offered to prepare thanksgiving dinner for the 12 of them! What the heck, what’s another 12 for dinner! They will celebrate at their own home this Saturday. If anyone would like to help in preparing their Thanksgiving dinner, please let me know. We will be making it either Thursday AM or Friday AM. They will be coming here to pick it up on Friday, and all they will need to do is pop it in the oven! We sure have much to be thankful for!

Christmas Open House December 6th

In appreciation for all you do as customers to support our family, and for so many of you who have become friends, we are inviting you to an open house at our home on December 6th from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm. We will have food and beverages, and invite you and your family to stop in! You may bring a dish to share if you like. Our home is just on the other side of the church, so use the same driveway as you do for the store. We will have Christmas movies playing and some games in the café for kids if they like. Please stop in and join us in celebrating the most joyful time of the year…..Christmas!

This Year, the Woman Got it

My husband Roger is a very good marksman. He has taken time to teach all of our children how to shoot and also how to hunt. The boys have gotten their bucks, and this year Jenna joined the ranks! Roger said on opening day as different deer came…….and went……... It was good teaching time for Jenna. Pretty good I’d say because within an hour the next day, she took a buck down and that was that! So now I have a freezer full of pheasants AND a buck. What is a raw foodist to do? Yup, enjoy the meat! Luckily, I still whip up a mean casserole, so those full moons may bring out the meat side of me……evil laugh here…… Jenna said it was an awesome experience, and the feeling of appreciation for the buck was very strong. She offered a prayer of thanksgiving (as Roger has taught them all to do….good man) and learned all about deer anatomy after that. Story ends here!

Credit Card….to charge or not to charge……

FYI we are now charging a 5% fee for any charge or bank card use. This excludes the SNAP program (food stamps). We pay more than 5% on all of your charges, sometimes as high as 8% for exclusive cards, and to keep our prices in the store low, we decided to implement this change. Sorry! We are just too fair and small to pay these fees out of pocket. HOWEVER if you are going to stop shopping here because of this please use your card and let us know prior! We sure do not want to lose anyone, just looking to bring the profit margin a bit higher on our products.

We are working with Raw Foodists who have traveled the world to find everything from raw wild gooseberries (my favorite berry on earth) to really raw cashews. All items will be making their way into our new bulk area (hopefully rearranged this weekend) and will have our labels. We are also packaging our spices in very nice jars so you can purchase them and then refill them. I suppose this concern for everything you eat has taken us to a new level. We just think we can make it better than anyone else, and more affordable too! So sit back, you have no idea what we are all up to yet!

Christmas Tree Already!?

Yes, our Christmas tree (measuring 27 feet circumference) is UP! We flew Emily home last Thursday and hid her in our laundry room. We picked up all the other children early for school for “a very important activity” and brought them all into the kitchen. We then proceeded to tell the children we were going to get our tree! They all just stared, as it was November 12th. We had taken them out of school for this? I asked them what was missing and the younger ones gave the list….hats, saw, rope, etc. Then Eric said “my lovely twin sister” and out she popped! He didn’t even know she was coming! They all flew on top of her (quite the bear hug) and we took off to Christmas on Indian Lore in West Bend. We have gotten our trees there for as long as I can remember, and they are INCREDIBLE people. Their season starts sometime soon (we called and came early because….they are our friends!) It was a very great weekend with Emily! This is the last time all of us will be together to have our family ritual of tree cutting as next year three of our children leave for two years on missions. It was a great tree cutting! We found one that was 17 years old and TALL! Visit them for hay rides, warm fire, s’mores and great trees! www.indianlorefurniture.com and tell them “hi!” for us!

Vitalize Your Life!

As our program unfolds, we are learning what works well. We have decided to hold a support session from 6:00 pm until 6:50 pm each Thursday with the class to follow at 7:00 pm. (however tonight the class does start at 6:30 pm). Please watch for a class listing during the next week or so. As more people sign up for the classes, we will offer more support groups at other locations as well. We will keep you posted! It is an amazing group of people…and we have just gotten started! If you know of anyone who wishes to improve their health, this is it! The tools, leaders, education and support is great!

Holistic Health, Green Living and Emergency Preparedness Expo News

We have just arranged to have a Community Holistic Health insert in the local papers scheduled for April. We are looking for professionals who want to advertise and have editorial space as well. This guide will be VERY helpful for people in the tri county area in finding holistic health care professionals, support and supplies. Included will be some of our success stores from VYL program and many personal treatments we have used on our family. If you know anyone who would benefit from advertising in this segment please send them our way! PLUS if you have a home remedy that has worked for something please send that too! This guide will be available at the Expo! Get April 24th 2010 on the calendar today!

THANK YOU!

As Thanksgiving weekend is almost upon us, our family wants to thank you for all of your support this past year. It has been a wonderful year serving and getting to know so many of you. There are such wonderful people in this area! With all the unrest in the country, we believe that whatever happens would only draw us closer as a people. There is no one I know that would not fight for his family’s safety. There is no one I know that would not fight for the freedoms our parents and ancestors fought for. I am thankful for my great great grandfather whose body rests in Jackson WI. He and his family led a group of families to America and settled the Kirchhayn and Cedarburg area. They built the first churches there, and their farmsteads are still visible. They came to America for freedoms they could no longer enjoy in Prussia. I am thankful for my freedom as a woman to have as many children as I do, to eat what I grow, run businesses, enjoy our religion, and have access to unlimited information and the world through technology. But most of all I am thankful for the gifts given to me by a kind Lord. They are what make me…me. Your gifts make you….you. Thank you for sharing yourselves with us!
