Here are two of our favorite Megafood products you may benefit
from supplementing with:
Balanced B12—studies have shown that many Americans
don’t have adequate levels of B12 for optimal health. B12 lies at the core of
our body’s ability to make DNA for new cells, form healthy red blood cells,
and turn the food we eat into energy. Plus, Karen’s entire family takes this
supplement daily, hint hint J
Vitamin D-3—has so many diverse and critical
functions in the body from supporting the immune system, to building healthy
bones, to keeping us in a good mood!
D-3 is another vitamin almost everyone can benefit from supplementing
with.
Much individual variation exists in
response to supplemental vitamin D-3. The amount needed to raise and/or
maintain blood serum levels for one person may not be enough for another.
This is due to various factors such as age, weight, absorption, overall
health, and amount of sun exposure.
Based
on the body's indicated daily vitamin D usage, Vitamin D Council recommends
the following amounts of supplemental vitamin D3 per day in the absence of
proper sun exposure. Due to the variable response discussed above, these are
only estimated amounts.
·
Healthy children under the age of 1 years – 1,000 IU.
·
Healthy children over the age of 1 years – 1,000 IU per every 25 lbs
of body weight.
·
Healthy adults and adolescents – at least 5,000 IU.
·
Pregnant and lactating mothers - at least 6,000 IU
Additionally, children and adults
with chronic health conditions such as autism, MS, cancer, heart disease, or
obesity may need as much as double these amounts.
There have yet to be any documented
instances of an adverse interaction of vitamin D with any medications. There
are, however, medications which have been found to interfere with the body’s
proper utilization of vitamin D. They are:
· Xenical®, alli™,
Questran®, LoCholest®, and Prevalite® - reduce vitamin D absorption.
· Dilantin®) - increases
hepatic metabolism of vitamin D to inactive
compounds.

TIME TO CHANGE YOUR OIL?The Seven Best Oil Extracts For Your Skin ~ Found at NATURE'S GARDEN HEALTH STORE!! The skin—the body’s largest organ naturally excretes oil, so using it to replenish, cleanse and hydrate seems fitting. In fact, in some countries, like Japan, using oil-based skin-care products is the preferred way of caring for the skin. As we age, moisture levels in the skin drop, causing it to become dry and dehydrated, in turn making fine lines and wrinkles more noticeable. You may be surprised to learn that a large majority of skin-care products boast an oil agent as a main ingredient. But how does oil work with skin? Because oil is an emollient, it fills in the spaces between the cells in the upper levels of the skin. By replacing these essential lipids, products that are oil-based smooth and lubricate rough skin. Because of their chemical structure, the skin more easily absorbs oils than water-based moisturizers. I like the following oils, as they provide these important benefits.
Coconut Oil: This is my favorite! Some properties include~ antifungal, antibacterial, & antimicrobial. Coconut oil also helps in treating various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections. Other great uses is for a leave in hair conditioner!
Jojoba Oil: The skin strengthener! Similar in structure to that of natural sebum, jojoba oil can help reduce the production of oil while strengthening the epidermis. Jojoba also has a natural sun care factor of SPF 10-20 .Tea Tree Oil: antifungal and antibacterial. Tea tree oil has been used for centuries to heal the skin. In addition, it carries oxygen into the hair follicles, reducing and killing the bacteria that lead to pimples. Sesame Oil: A traditional oil used in Ayurvedic practice, Sesame seed oil is high in oleic and linoleic fatty acids that are rich in omega 6. It adds moisturizing to your skin daily and is an excellent massage oil. Acne prone boys and girls have learned that oil is bad for face. Sesame seed oil used lightly on facial skin is one oil which is actually good as it helps control eruptions and neutralizes the poisons which develop both on the surface and in the pores. Ideal For:
Normal to Dry Skin
Delicate & Sensitive Skin
Adults and Children
Infants Delicate Skin / Diaper Rash
Excellent Oil for Pre-term Infant Massage, see below
Dry Rough Cracked Skin & Skin Bumps
Oil Pulling Sunburn, Windburn
Skin Burns
Dry Hair and Dandruff
Eczema and Rosacea
Allergy Prone Skin
Chemotherapy and Radiation Patients
Those with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS)
Minor Scrapes, Cuts and Abrasions
Helpful Protector Against Swimming Pool Chlorine
Almond Oil: Almond oil is suitable for any skin type. You do not have to worry how it will react on your skin type. Listed below are benefits of almond oil for the skin. Beautiful skin will be no more just a dream!
Improves complexion and retains glow
Moisturises better and deeper
Soothes skin irritation and inflammation
Delays ageing process
Lightens dark circles
Relieves dry and itching skin
Nourishes the skin. Makes it smooth and soft
Cures chapped lips and body rashes
Tea Seed Oil: Tea-seed Oil is deemed to be the 'Eastern Olive Oil'. Camellias mainly grow in China and the oil has been used in their cultures for centuries. The rest of the world is now catching up and learning about what was once considered an China treasure. There are many benefits to using Tea-seed Oil in your diet, as well as for skin care and hair care. Tea-seed Oil can be used as an emollient for dry skin and may even help with acne. This is a light, easily absorbed oil that can be used as a moisturizer for dry, rough spots. Tea-seed Oil is said to help prevent and smooth wrinkles and stretch marks and heal scars. It is also used to enhance and promote healthy growth of fingernails by massaging the oil into the nail
Grape Seed Oil: It’s a fabulous beauty oil for the skin and if used regularly can add a glow to your face. Grape, as a fruit, has immense medicinal qualities. It was known to be used several years back by healers in Europe, for the cure of several skin diseases. Grape seed oil has the quality of astringent, thus helps tighten and tone the skin. It treats stubborn acne and also helps to moisturize the skin. And if you dread those stretch marks, just use a little grape seed oil everyday and be ready to be surprised to see the change. This non-greasy oil not only helps in nourishing ones skin, but if dabbed slightly, it gives a shimmering touch to your derma. It is also a great under-eye repair product. It can be used as an alternative for shaving cream. Wondering if you will ever find a natural way to protect your skin while you're about to step out in the scorching heat? Just apply a little grape seed oil on your face, as this oil acts as a sunscreen. What better than turning to natural remedies for the skin than using chemical based products? Grape seed oil is one the best oils for skin-related issues.
What to AVOID:
Mineral Oils: A very inexpensive petroleum product that can clog the pores and reduce the skin’s ability to detoxify. Found to promote premature aging and interfere with skin's ability to eliminate toxins, promoting acne and other disorders.
